WME Taps TikTok Exec Gisselle Ruiz To Lead Diversity, Inclusion Efforts

WME has tapped TikTok exec Gisselle Ruiz to be its first head of inclusion.

Ruiz, who joined TikTok earlier this year as a global talent acquisitions lead, will work with WME’s senior executives to develop partnerships that bolster the agency’s diversity, equity, and inclusion goals, Variety reports. Those goals (or at least some of them) were laid out in July, when WME unveiled a list of more than 30 anti-racist steps it plans to take, including investing in Black-led creative projects, donating $5 million to community programs and inclusion initiatives, training scriptreaders to flag potentially harmful content, and working with colleges to recruit marginalized students.

Ruiz worked on diversity and inclusion initiatives at TikTok, and in past positions at Facebook and Google. She’s also worked in talent acquisition at Walt Disney, CAA, NBCUniversal, and the nonprofit Broad Center.

WME told Variety that Ruiz’s skillset will be “instrumental to the agency’s commitment to be an anti-racist and ally-oriented company.”

Ruiz will work out of WME’s offices in Beverly Hills.
