The top end of our weekly Tubefilter chart continues to change, and further down, there are several other shifts worth noting. This week, India’s most popular YouTube channel reassumed its position at the top of our chart, with a number of family-friendly hubs following closely behind it.
T-Series is number one, again. The Indian YouTube destination, which is home to Bollywood videos and other pop culture clips, earned 911.6 million views over the past seven days, the highest figure accumulated by any channel during that period. Its total was within 10% of the viewership earned by the #2 channel in this week’s global charts, Vlad and Niki. The Russian-American family vlog, which surprised observers (or at least me) when it reached the top position in this ranking last week, dropped back to second despite picking up 859 million weekly views.
Cocomelon – Nursery Rhymes, which smashed some records a few months ago with its weekly view totals, is now #3 in our global ranking. Its most recent seven-day total is 747.8 million weekly views, which is both more than 100 million views behind Vlad and Niki and more than 100 million views ahead of this week’s fourth-place finisher, SET India. That channel, the second South Asian entertainment hub in our top five, received 616 million views over the measured period.
The final channel in this week’s top five is Kids Diana Show, the third toddler-facing channel the reach the uppermost echelon of our global ranking. Its archive of playful adventures received 605.3 million views this week.
International music stars are frequent Top Gainers in our global charts, since the release dates of their new videos tend to bring in massive viewership from several different regions around the world. So what happens when three or four international stars come together in a single song?
For the result, we turn to the YouTube channel associated with the Colombian reggaeton artist J Balvin, where this week, a new video was released. It offers an artful accompaniment to J Balvin’s track “Un Dia,” which features guest appearances from English singer-songwriter Dua Lipa and Puerto Rican artists Bad Bunny and Tainy, the former of whom is a frequent fixture in our global top 50.
In total, the J Balvin VEVO channel received 119.1 million views this week, a 65% week-over-week increase that allowed the Colombian superstar to jump from the 101st position in our chart up to 45th. The official “Un Dia” video, which was only available on YouTube for three of the seven measured days, accounts for more than 19 million of those views all on its own.
