A new week has brought a new leader in our ranking of the 50 most-viewed YouTube channels of the week. This time, a Floridian family vlog broke the two-channel duopoly that had persisted at the top of our global chart for months. Now, those channels have each fallen back a spot, with a new contender zooming past them to the top spot.
Vlad and Niki has been a regular fixture among the top five channels in our global charts, but it is still unexpected to see the kid-friendly Russian-American content hub ranked #1. The jump came in a week when Vlad and Niki received 933.5 million views, a 45% jump over the channel’s previous seven-day total. Our data, courtesy of Gospel Stats, shows this dramatic rise in action.
A major catalyst for this increase came from a soda-themed video on the Vlad and Niki channel, which was released on July 8 and has since scored more than 260 million views. Why is this clip so popular? As with many questions raised by a children’s video channel, the answer eludes me.
Indian entertainment hub T-Series, last week’s #1, fell back a spot despite picking up 918 million weekly views. The American animation channel Cocomelon – Nursery Rhymes, which had held the #1 spot up to a couple weeks ago, is now in third place, though it too had a big week, with 785.7 million views. Following behind Cocomelon in fourth place is SET India, which added 656.7 million weekly views to bring its lifetime total above 60 billion.
Kids Diana Show, the fifth and final channel in this week’s 600 million views club, rounded out the top five. The youngster-facing American channel earned a total of 640.5 million weekly views.
The first Belorussian flag we’ve seen over the last several months of our global Top 50 belongs to the channel A4. That alphanumeric hub is the home of the musician and YouTuber Vlad Bumaga. His channel has more than 20 million subscribers, making him one of the Slavic world’s most popular creators. The past week was particularly kind to Bumaga, as he earned 120.3 million views over seven days, an increase of 34% over his previous weekly total. Those numbers bumped him from 68th place in our global ranking all the way up to 41st.
So what sort of videos does Bumaga release? Oh, the usual — pranks, challenges, and the like. One of his most popular recent videos purports to be some kind of prison escape challenge, though the content of the video itself suggests some sort of escape room situation rather than full-on incarceration.
