For yet another week, the song remains the same: If you want to top the charts on YouTube, it helps to cater to South Asian viewers, young children, or both. All of the top five channels in our global top 50 serve at least one of those large audiences.
Since its viewership rose above the billion-views-per-week benchmark two weeks ago, Cocomelon – Nursery Rhymes has posted nothing but upward progress. The animation studio, by far the most-viewed YouTube channel in the world over the past seven days, received 1.11 billion views across its family-friendly catalog this week. If the channel’s current pace hold, it will only take a few more weeks before Cocomelon doubles the weekly viewership of all but one other YouTube channel.
The lone channel to (sort of) keep pace with Cocomelon is our old friend T-Series. The Indian music video hub is still playing second fiddle to Cocomelon in our weekly charts, but that doesn’t make its weekly traffic — which totaled 834.9 million views — any less impressive. The two channels behind in the charts also held their same positions from last week. Kids Diana is still at number three, and SET India remains the fourth-most viewed channel in the world. These two hubs are both above 500 million weekly views, which the children’s vlog registering 602.4 million hits and the Sony-owned South Asian entertainment arm coming in at 515.8 million views.
Vlad and Nikita rounded out a top-five filled with kid-friendly channels. Its 477.5 million weekly views allowed it to come in slightly ahead of fellow vlog channel Like Nastya, which fell back one spot to the ranking Vlad and Nikita occupied last week (#6).
A Puerto Rican pop sensation’s official YouTube channel landed in the top 50 this week, and it wasn’t even Bad Bunny’s, though he made a big impact in our charts this week. Anuel AA, who just released a new album, saw his YouTube traffic more than quadruple this week, and a music video featuring Bad Bunny was a major contributor to that growth.
Anuel AA, whose real is Emmanuel Gazmey Santiago, released an album titled Emmanuel on May 29. Though the rapper and Latin trap standout is Puerto Rican, his YouTube channel flies the flag of Colombia, the homeland of his fiancee Karol G. After audio tracks and music videos from Emmanuel arrived on YouTube, Anuel AA experienced a week in which his channel received 130.5 million views, good for 38th best on the world’s top video site.
The highest-charting video to arrive on the Anuel AA channel this week was a music video for the song “Hasta Que Dios Diga,” which features Bad Bunny. The trip through a cumulus, dreamlike landscape has received more than 56 million views since arriving on YouTube.
