In the wake of this year’s Streamys Social Good Awards — a Streamys-affiliated ceremony that serves to honor companies and creators who use online video to make a meaningful impact on the world — one of this year’s honorees was so moved by the event that he has opted to pay it forward even further.
Charlie Annenberg is the VP and director of the Annenberg Foundation, a nonprofit founded by his grandfather and businessman-philanthropist-diplomat Walter Annenberg that supports myriad organizations in the arts, culture, and education spaces. Annenberg is also the founder of Explore.org, a philanthropic multimedia organization that works to champion selfless acts and create a portal into the natural world with almost 200 livestreaming cameras turned on animal sanctuaries, research centers, and conservation groups. Explore.org was named one of three honorees in the ‘Nonprofit or NGO’ category at this year’s Streamys Social Good Awards, where it was recognized alongside the It Gets Better Project and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
And now, Annenberg and Explore have tendered $25,000 grants to both fellow honorees in the ‘Nonprofit or NGO’ category, stating on social media that it is “thrilled to be recognized alongside these two world class non-profits and excited to support their outstanding missions and commitment to creating a better world to live in.”

“Thank you Streamy Awards and YouTube,” the organization continued, “for helping to bring our stories to a broader audience and giving us all a platform to create community and impact for social good.”
A total of six other honorees were named at this year’s Streamys Social Good Awards in two additional categories: ‘Company Or Brand’ and ‘Creator’. This year’s Social Good Awards were hosted by Jay Shetty, and featured appearances by digital luminaries like Connor Franta, Lauren Giraldo, Sam and Colby, and Gigi Gorgeous — the winner of this year’s Streamys Uniter Award.
