Kristen McAtee Launches Video Campaign With Goodwill For ‘National Thrift Shop Day’

Kristen McAtee, the Vlog Squadder and current contender in Kian Lawley and JC Caylen’s Reality House, has partnered up with Goodwill to fete National Thrift Shop Day — an unofficial holiday designed to encourage the practice of thrifting.

In a haul video premiering tomorrow — a popular YouTube format in which creators showcase recent purchases — McAtee will share that 87 cents from every dollar spent at Goodwill is re-invested into local communities. (Goodwill is a nonprofit that provides job placement and training services — including child care, financial education, free tax preparation, transportation, and career mentoring — by selling donated clothing and household items in more than 3,300 storefronts across North America).

Goodwill linked up with McAtee (who counts 1.2 million YouTube subscribers) through The Ad Council — a nonprofit that creates public service ads to champion various social causes. The Ad Council launched its Creators For Good initiative in 2015, to harness the power of social influencers.

McAtee’s video series is part of Goodwill’s larger campaign for National Thrift Shop Day, whereby several Goodwill stores across America will offer special deals, fashion shows, and style workshops. Other influencers creating content in honor of the unofficial holiday include fashion thrifter Nicole Mazur (78,000 Instagram followers); Jeme Jackson, a lifestyle influencer and advocate for those who are deaf and hard of hearing; and fashion editor Caroline Vazzana (227,000 followers).
