YouTube chef and Nerdy Nummies host Rosanna Pansino is recovering comfortably after a rare and potentially critical health scare.
The 34-year-old, who counts 11.3 million subscribers, shared updates with her followers on Twitter and Instagram, where she first noted last weekend that she was headed to urgent care after having had a fever of 101.4 and experiencing intense pain that didn’t seem to be improving.
After being promptly sent to the ER for tests and scans — including a CT scan — Cedars Sinai immediately initiated treatment for “a major internal infection.” Pansino added, “They also performed a spinal tap (draining spinal fluid) as I had all the symptoms of life-threatening issues…I’m on bedrest all week to recover and allow the internal swelling to go down.”
Asked by a fan what had caused the infection, Pansino said doctors believed it was “a rare aggressive bacteria, which could have been on anything I touched. Hard to pinpoint exactly where, since I was on so many sets this week. Doctor said it can happen to anyone but isn’t common.”
True to her YouTube grind, however, Pansino is taking her recovery in stride. She published a prerecorded collaboration with fellow creator Justine Ezarik yesterday, and promoted both her appearance in Maxim magazine as well as the forthcoming season of YouTube Premium’s Escape The Night while recovering in bed.
