Tech giant Apple has tapped two of YouTube’s most influential beauty creators to spread the word out about an update to its Memojis feature — or the animated icons that users can create in their own likenesses, not unlike Snapchat’s beloved Bitmojis.

At its 2019 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) yesterday, Apple announced that users can now customize their avatars in even greater detail with stickers, accessories (like hats, glasses, or AirPods), and makeup, CNET reports. To showcase some of the new beauty perks — as well as new choices for skin tone and facial hair — Apple partnered with Patrick Starrr (4.4 million subscribers) and Desi Perkins (3.3 million subscribers) on a makeup tutorial. Starrr and Perkins are longstanding and relatively drama-free members of YouTube’s beauty community, having both launched their channels in 2013.

In the video, Starrr and Perkins showcase new eyeshadow and lipstick options — as well as the piercings, tooth customizations, hairstyles, and hats — that Memojis can now sport. The update will be available in iOS 13, which is due out in September.

“I think we look fabulous,” the duo say at the end of the tutorial. “The beauty community could never.”

Starrr is repped by Digital Brand Architects and Metro PR, while Perkins is repped by UTA.
