Hillary And Chelsea Clinton Reportedly Readying Production Company For TV, Film

Barack and Michelle Obama aren’t the only high-profile Democratic politicians eyeing a foray into the media business.

Hillary Clinton and her daughter, Chelsea, are in early discussions about forming a production company that would develop film and TV projects. Bloomberg reports that the duo have spoken to studios about financing and distributing a programming pipeline that would focus on stories created by and for women. (The Obamas, for their part, inked an overall deal at Netfllix through their Higher Ground production company, and are readying shows about myriad subjects — from federal bureaucracy to fashion).

Clinton, who is 71 and whose decorated political career has included tenures as the first lady of Arkansas, the first lady of the United States, a senator of New York, and secretary of state, also unsuccessfully ran for president in 2008 and 2016. Bloomberg reports that Clinton is looking to TV and film as a means of harnessing her influence now that she has left the political arena.

Clinton already has one show in the works: a TV series with Steven Spielberg titled The Woman’s Hour, which is being adapted from a book of the same name about women’s suffrage activists.
