Revry launched in 2016 and offers a range of LGBTQ+-focused content, from series and films to music, short films, and podcasts, all made by queer creators. It’s produced 3030, a ’90s sitcom-inspired series about lesbian roommates, queer horror podcast Dead for Filth, dozens of original albums and songs, and much more. Revry has worked with notable queer movers and makers, including Tegan Quin (of the queer girl band Tegan & Sara), Ryan Murphy (creator of Glee and American Horror Story), and YouTubers Gigi Gorgeous and Tyler Oakley.
The streamer’s membership plans cost between $4.99 and $6.99 per month, and it currently reaches 35 million people in 100 countries. Its content is available to stream on its website, through multiple over-the-top streaming devices (Apple TV, Roku, Amazon Fire), through an iOS mobile app, and on linear streaming channels Pluto TV, XUMO, and Zapping TV.
By teaming up with SeedInvest — which, like other crowdfunding platforms, connects folks from around the internet with entrepreneurs and businesses seeking their support — Revry is asking its users and brand advocates to get involved in its development for the long run, SeedInvest principal and head of venture growth Alexandra Tynion said in a statement.
“SeedInvest is excited to be working with such a diverse, passionate team of founders who are creating something meaningful for a historically marginalized community,” Tynion added.
That team of founders includes CEO Damian Pelliccione, who said he and fellow founders LaShawn McGhee and Alia J. Daniels started Revry “because we saw the need for truly authentic entertainment made for the ever-growing community as it is: diverse, outrageous, groundbreaking, and global.”
Revry is offering seven investment levels, beginning with the minimum investment of $500, and each level rewards investors with perks. At the $500 level, investors get a free subscription to Revry. At the $1,000, they get a subscription plus a thank-you on social media. At the top level, $100,000, investors will get all other levels’ rewards, plus a paid trip to Revry HQ in Los Angeles for a Revry Original premiere and a dinner with Revry’s cofounders.
The round is open through Feb. 16. You can join in here.
