Abrams Artists Agency is closing out 2018 with two signings: former BuzzFeed staffer-turned-indie creator Michelle Khare and the Canadian duo behind The Sorry Girls craft and DIY channel — Becky Wright and Kelsey MacDermaid.
The Sorry Girls have amassed 1.5 million YouTube subscribers since launching their channel as college students in 2010 — so named for the stereotype that Canadians tend to be overapologetic. This week, the girls (who are managed by Reuven Ashtar of Never Napping) launched a podcast called A Little About A Lot in collaboration with audio platform Anchor. On the show, Wright and MacDermaid discuss their personal lives and their struggles with maintaining relationships (Wright is married) and dating (MacDermaid is single). They will also answer audience questions and welcome special guests.
Khare, for her part, is an actress and trained stunt artist (and managed by Authentic Talent and Literary Management). She flexes those talents on her burgeoning YouTube channel (where her comedic and lifestyle vlogs have attracted over 1 million subscribers) and in videos for other mediums. Khare starred in the 2017 horror short Whisper, which was acquired by Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment to be turned into a feature. She also starred and produced in a short on her channel titled Everyone Loves Bulldog (below).
