Twitch To Host First-Ever ‘TwitchCon Europe’ This April In Berlin

Twitch is bringing its annual community and industry convention across the pond.

Like VidCon before it, TwitchCon will make the move to Europe next year — to be held on April 13 and 14 at the CityCube convention center in Berlin, Germany. While the U.S. iteration of TwitchCon will continue to exist, this marks the first time that the gamer-frequented streaming platform will host an even in Europe. Twitch says it selected Berlin for its centralized and accessible location, proximity to attractions, and the fact that Germany is one of the platform’s top-performing countries in terms of total creators and viewership stats.

The expansion arrives on the heels of last month’s TwitchCon, during which the company says it welcomed “tens of thousands of visitors” to San Jose, Calif., in what was ultimately a sold-out event. TwitchCon Europe will feature the same elements as the U.S. version — including an expo hall, panels, and streamer meet-and-greets. However, programming will be tailored to the European market.

“While there will be a lot of familiar elements to anyone who has ever attended TwitchCon in the U.S., we’re taking inspiration from the location and distinct cultures across the region to ensure the experience is relevant to all the audiences,” Twitch CMO Kate Jhaveri said in a statement.

Ticket sales, creator attendees, exhibitors, and a programming schedule will be announced in coming months. To stay up to date, fans can visit the just-launched TwitchCon Europe website.
