Vox To Debunk Misconceptions About The News In Ad-Supported YouTube Original

YouTube is teaming up with Vox Media for an ad-supported original series that will explore widespread misconceptions about the news and current events.

The still-untitled show, produced by Vox Entertainment — the media giant’s studio arm — will premiere on Vox’s YouTube channel in 2019. While Vox is home to countless popular explainer videos, the forthcoming series will see its team of correspondents ask viewers what makes them curious or confused about the news — and then find the answers to debunk common misconceptions.

“Vox’s explanatory format has already been immensely popular on YouTube, with acclaimed series, a roster of talented creators, and almost 5 million subscribers,” Vox Entertainment head Chad Mumm

said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to continue to push the boundaries of what the industry can expect from Vox Entertainment in terms of premium non-fiction programming.”

Vox Entertainment has produced series for other distribution partners including Netflix (a weekly docuseries titled Explained) and PBS (a travel series hosted by acclaimed chef Marcus Samuelsson titled No Passport Required). Vox — which is the parent company of beloved media brands like The Verge and Eater — is currently working on a docuseries examining the evolution of American style over the years that is set to premiere on CNN in 2019.
