Markiplier And Pokimane Will Battle It Out In Twitch ‘Fortnite’ Stream To Benefit ‘Stand Up 2 Cancer’

Twitch has announced it will be playing a role in this Friday’s biennial Stand Up 2 Cancer (SU2C) telecast by streaming a fundraising Fortnite competition that will run concurrently with SU2C’s main broadcast — 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. EST.

Twitch’s event will stream on the official Twitch channel, hosted by famed Team Fortress 2 streamer turned esports commentator Rachel ‘Seltzer’ Quirico and starring top streamers Markiplier and Pokimane battling it out with fellow gamers and celebrity guests.

SU2C’s telecast lineup is also star-studded, with Hollywood guests including Mahershala Ali, Ken Jeong, Reese Witherspoon, and Katie Couric.

Twitch’s stream isn’t the only digital addition to SU2C this year. There will also be a one-hour prelude to the telecast streaming on YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, and iHeartRadio‘s social media channels; that prelude will air from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. and will be anchored by notable YouTubers including Hannah Hart, Rhett & Link, and Liza Koshy.

More guests for the telecast are due to be announced before Sept. 7. It will air live from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. on 65 cable networks across the U.S. and Canada, as well as on SU2C’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.

Both SU2C’s telecast and Twitch’s livestream will raise funds to benefit the Stand Up To Cancer organization, which its parent org Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) says has already contributed to the discovery and FDA approval of five new cancer therapies.
