‘Stand Up 2 Cancer’ Taps Liza Koshy, Rhett & Link, Hannah Hart For Inaugural Digital Stream

Stand Up 2 Cancer (SU2C), a biennial telecast that raises money to fund cancer research, is going digital with its first-ever one-hour show on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and iHeartMedia‘s social channels. The hourlong event, dubbed #Up2Us, will precede the telecast on Sept. 7, kicking off at 7 p.m. ET.

And for its inaugural digital outing, the SU2C team has tapped a slew of digital heavyweights, including Liza Koshy, Rhett & Link, Hannah Hart, and Andrea Russett. The digital show, produced by live content company Telescope, will look back at SU2Cs 10 years of impact and rally the next generation of supporters, according to a release. It will be hosted by actors Max Greenfield, Tyler Posey, and Brenda Song — each of whom has been personally impacted by the disease.

The live stream, produced by live content company Telescope, will look back at SU2C’s 10 years of impact and rally the next generation of supporters, according to a release, with stories from cancer survivors and a backstage look at the telecast. “We’re enlisting users of popular social media platforms — Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube — for a conversation about something that, in one way or another, touches everyone,” said SU2C co-founder Katie Couric in a statement.

The SU2C telecast will air live on 65 cable networks across the U.S. and Canada, as well as SU2C’s Facebook and YouTube pages. SU2C, which is a division of the philanthropic Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF), says that its fundraising work over the past 10 years has contributed to the FDA approval of five new cancer therapies.

A U.K. iteration of SU2C has previously featured local vloggers Oli White, Jack Maynard, and Josh Pieters.
