YouTube star Joe Sugg, who is also a noted graphic novelist and talent management company proprietor, has reportedly signed on to the upcoming season of Strictly Come Dancing — a U.K. reality competition series in the vein of ABC‘s Dancing With The Stars.
In the hit BBC One show, celebrities are partnered with professional ballroom dancers, and compete via themed performances week to week, which are scored by a panel of expert judges. Metro speculates that the series could stand to gain some serious social starpower if Sugg does indeed opt to compete, given that several of his YouTube-famous friends and family members would presumably attend live tapings, including sister Zoe Sugg and best friend-slash-business partner Caspar Lee.
Strictly has not confirmed casting for its sixteenth season, although other rumored participants include Olympic diver Tom Daley
and Pussycat Dolls star Ashley Roberts, per Metro. The series will start filming at the end of the month.Sugg isn’t the first YouTube star to parlay his massive digital success — to the tune of roughly 14 million subscribers across three channels — onto linear television. Deyes and Lee appeared in another popular U.K. reality series called Release The Hounds in 2016, while mukbang queen Trisha Paytas ventured across the pond last year for Celebrity Big Brother. In the states, the 28th season of The Amazing Race was dedicated entirely to digital creators, with a cast featuring social luminaries Tyler Oakley and Burnie Burns.
