The Merrell Twins To Launch ‘True Img’ Fashion Brand Tomorrow

The Merrell Twins are the latest YouTube stars to launch their own fashion label dubbed True IMG, which will comprise affordable, school-appropriate items for their young female fans.

Twenty-one-year-old Veronica and Vanessa, who count 3.5 million subscribers on their joint YouTube channel — featuring music, challenge videos, sketches, and more — will vend the line exclusively online at trueimg.com. The twins tell WWD that after being bullied throughout their school careers, the line — which has been in the works for roughly three years — is intended to help supporters and shoppers tap into a sense of inner confidence. The phrase ‘true image’ is derived from the meaning of Veronica’s name, and its logo (see below) also features a butterfly dotting the ‘i’ in Img — a nod to the meaning of Vanessa’s name in Greek.

The sisters collaborated with global fashion company Instaco — which pacts with influencers to create lifestyle brands — on the collection. (Instaco is also behind fashion vlogger Jenn Im’s Eggie range). All of the pieces in True Img are under $70. You can check out a teaser video featuring closeups of some of the items on the line’s official website, where items will go on sale tomorrow.
