YouTube megastar Colleen Ballinger is having a baby — which means that her off-kilter character creation, Miranda Sings, is set to be documenting her pregnancy journey online as well.
Ballinger, 31, announced the emotional news in a YouTube video today, during which she also confirmed that she is engaged to boyfriend Erik Stocklin — who coincidentally co-starred as her love interest in the Netflix series Haters Back Off. Ballinger was formerly married to fellow YouTube star Joshua Evans, who she divorced in 2016.
Ballinger is three-and-a-half-months pregnant, and has known since April 24. She wanted to keep the news private for as long as possible, she says, even though she has been filming her experiences behind the scenes. All of that content — including sharing the news with family and YouTube friends, as well as a gender reveal — will roll out in coming weeks, though Ballinger noted that she isn’t pivoting to become a ‘mommy vlogger’, and her comedic videos will continue as normal.

And Ballinger knows exactly how Miranda — who has unique relationships with the men in her life, including her uncle Jim — will be processing the news. “I thought long and hard about how to deal this situation,” Ballinger says, “and I have a really fun idea for it.” In the meantime, Ballinger will continue to tour, and will soon be hitting the road to promote her second book, My Diarrhe, which arrives on shelves July 10.
