OUT Web Fest is returning to YouTube Space LA. The festival, which is “dedicated to celebrating web series, short films, and music videos by and for the global queer community,” will host an opening night event at YouTube’s Playa Vista facility. Among other items on the agenda, the gala will fete notable queer creators like Miles McKenna, Miles Jai, and Ingrid Nilsen.
The OUT Web Fest‘s YouTube Space LA party will take place on May 18. Creators with at least 10,000 subscribers are invited to register for the event.
Queer-friendly streaming service Revry, which serves as the presenter of the OUT Web Fest, will hand out its Revry Visibility Awards at the opening night gathering. In addition to Nilsen and Jai, LGBTQ+ advocacy organization LOVELOUD is expected to be honored. After the awards are conveyed, the documentary Believer, which stars Imagine Dragons frontman Dan Reynolds, will be screened.
The OUT Web Fest also opened its 2017 festival with an event at YouTube Space LA. Honorees included Tyler Oakley and Gigi Gorgeous.
Once its opening night bash concludes, the OUT Web Fest will continue with a series of panels, screenings, and “Pitchfests“. The latter will give creators the opportunity to share their ideas with executives from companies like IFC, Funny Or Die, Comedy Dynamics, Entertainment One, Adaptive Studios, Brian Graden Media, and the producers behind Queer Eye For The Straight Guy. The execs will score each entrant individually and the entrant with the highest overall score will win a trip to Rio and the opportunity to screen their winning project at the Rio Web Fest.
Tickets to the festival, which costs $30 per day, can be purchased here (plus you can get a 50% discount with the code “TUBEFILTER”). If you’d like to get an idea of what this year’s OUT Web Fest has in store, here’s a trailer for it:
