Following a harrowing day at YouTube’s San Bruno, Calif., headquarters earlier this month when a woman opened fire, wounding three victims, police responded to yet another threat against the video giant.
At 1:18 am on the morning of April 4, just hours after the shooting, the San Bruno Police Department learned of an Instagram post from an account titled ‘youtubeshooters’ that warned that another shooting was imminent. Detectives worked alongside YouTube security officials and the FBI to ensure the safety of the campus and subsequently identify a “juvenile suspect” in Pennsylvania, according to a press release, who ultimately admitted to making the post.
While officers determined that there was no merit to the threat and that no additional steps were taken to carry it out, “The San Bruno Police Department is working closely with the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office, the FBI, and other prosecutorial authorities, to determine whether or not criminal charges will be pursued,” according to the release.

The YouTube shooting was committed by 37-year-old Nasim Aghdam, who apparently had an axe to grind with the company, having accused it of preventing her videos from being viewed and shortchanging her ad earnings.
