Rooster Teeth has unveiled the full-length trailer for Why We’re Here, a documentary premiering next Friday that will chronicle the origin story of the 15-year-old new media dynasty.
Why We’re Here will begin with Rooster Teeth’s pre-YouTube founding out of a spare bedroom in 2003, and provide never-before-seen glimpses into game-changing series launches like Red Vs. Blue, RWBY, and Achievement Hunter. The film will feature archival footage from the company’s founders, including Burnie Burns (pictured above with The Slow Mo Guys‘ Gavin Free) and Matt Hullum. Today, Rooster Teeth’s multi-faceted business has grown to comprise podcasts, feature films, and massive live events.
“There’s the misconception that because no one was doing this when we got started, that made it easier,” Burns told Techcrunch of building the company. “It’s really difficult to go into a place where no one else is and no one else cares what’s going on there.”

Why We’re Here, which was produced by the company’s RT Docs division, will debut exclusively on Rooster Teeth’s subscription service, First, on April 20. The company released a teaser earlier this month, but you can check out the full-length trailer below:
