Joe Bereta Is Leaving Smosh To Focus On SourceFed Follow-Up The Valleyfolk

Joe Bereta is one of four former SourceFed hosts working on a new channel called The Valleyfolk, and in order to fully devote himself to that project, he will leave his previous post. Bereta is stepping down as the Creative Director of Defy Media‘s Smosh brand after spending more than three years at the company.

Bereta, an experienced online video creator, began dishing out offbeat news stories on SourceFed in 2012 after previously co-hosting the popular sketch comedy channel Barats and Bereta. At the start of 2015, Bereta departed SourceFed in order to join Defy Media, where his work primarily concerned Smosh-related matters. He helped launch web series like Every [Blank] Ever, through which Smosh has been able to spotlight its growing cast of actors and comedians.

Beyond Smosh, Bereta also launched shows on other Defy outlets. He brought Epic How To, which he hosted, to the AWEme channel in 2015.

In January of this year, Bereta reunited with former SourceFed colleagues Lee Newton, Steve Zaragoza, and Elliott Morgan to launch The Valleyfolk, which Bereta describes as a “multi-platform-comedy-entertainment-super-duper-production-something-or-other.” Bolstered by the support of more than 4,800 patrons on Patreon, The Valleyfolk hosts have kicked their production efforts into high gear, and Bereta is coming on board full-time.

“To the SMOSH fans, thank you for embracing me and watching all our shows,” Bereta wrote in a post on Patreon, in which he also thanked his Smosh and Defy colleagues. “From SMOSH LIVE to Summer/Winter Games and Every Blank Ever to One Hour Song Machine you were the best. And don’t fret, because I plan on constructing a sturdy bridge that connects the robust, fertile land of SMOSH to the majestic, sun-swept peaks of The Valleyfolk.”

Content that has already been published on the Valleyfolk YouTube channel includes a podcast called The Valleycast, which recently launched its 11th episode:
