DramaFever Names Rena Liu GM, Acquires Select ‘Bachelorette’ Streaming Rights

DramaFever, a streaming service operated by Warner Bros. Digital Networks (WBDN) dedicated to Korean Dramas and other romantic-oriented content, has named Rena Liu general manager.

In this role, Liu will report to Patty Hirsch, who was just named CEO of DramaFever and general manager of Warner Bros. Digital Labs — the technology team that powers WBDN’s portfolio, including Machinima and Ellen Digital Ventures. At DramaFever, Liu will be tasked with overseeing content, marketing, revenue, and product operations as well as leading business development and growth. Previously, she served as head of Warner Bros. Digital Labs’ business operations and strategy.

Liu’s first move as GM is the launch of a new vertical called DramaFever Journeys, which will comprise a curated selection of unscripted shows about relationships and romance. To this end, DramaFever has acquired the exclusive on-demand streaming rights to a handful of seasons of The Bachelorette and The Bachelorette Australia. The Bachelorette franchise is distributed by Warner Bros. Television, which inked the licensing pact with DramaFever for seasons 8, 10, 11, and 12 of the U.S. edition and season 3 of the Australian franchise.
