A ‘Street Fighter’ TV Show From Creators Of ‘Assassin’s Fist’ Web Series Is In The Works

After launching round one of their Street Fighter web series online, a group of fighting game fans is planning to bring round two to TV screens.

Production company Entertainment One is working with the Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist team, led by creator Joey Ansah, on a TV series that will be adapt the most famous installment of the Street Fighter video game franchise.

After premiere a well-received fan film called Street Fighter: Legacy in 2010, Ansah and his team landed a deal to create Assassin’s Fist, which ultimately reeled in millions of views after it arrived on the Machinima network in 2014. The series received extensive praise for its exciting action sequences, its dark visuals, and its faithfulness to its source material.

Later in 2014, news circulated that a sequel to Assassin’s Fist would be developed, with the World Warrior tournament as its focus. That event is at the center of the 1991 game Street Fighter II, which is regarded as one of the greatest video games of all time.

Nearly four years after that announcement, the World Warrior project seems like it will come to TV. Crucially, the project’s creative team has the support of Capcom, the company behind the Street Fighter franchise. “They have the credentials to help us launch a faithful adaptation of Street Fighter as a major TV series,” said Capcom’s Yoshinori Ono of the Assassin’s Fist team.

The distribution partner for the Assassin’s Fist TV show has not yet been announced. The projects planned premiere date is also not yet known.
