Rudy Mancuso Drops Second Single “Magic,” A Duet With Girlfriend Maia Mitchell

YouTube multi-hyphenate Rudy Mancuso dropped his debut single, “Black & White,” in October — complete with a visually arresting music video that has amassed 7.3 million views.

For his second official single, “Magic,” Mancuso is teaming up with his girlfriend, actress Maia Mitchell of The Fosters fame. The soft pop duet that will be accompanied by two music videos — one on Mancuso’s channel (below) and another that will serve as a Spotify exclusive. Spotify also created a billboard in Times Square to herald the release, and Mancuso and Mitchell released the track via Stem — a startup that helps online creators distribute earnings to a project’s various collaborators.

“I’ve been patient with my original music. I knew I wanted to kick off the year with a special release,” Mancuso said of the track. “I can’t think of anyone more suitable to collaborate with on a piece like this. [Maia] would challenge me in ways I truly hadn’t anticipated. The song and videos are direct products of that daring spirit.”

Mancuso and Mitchell have collaborated on several covers and sketches for his channel before, though a December single called “Sirens” was removed following accusations that the duo had plagiarized a song by rock band Eisley. A member of the band noted on Instagram, however, that it had okayed Mancuso and Mitchell to use the track.

A comedy collab starring Mancuso and Mitchell called The Perfect Date has more than 8 million views, while a drama clip called Split Love toppled 11.8 million. Mitchell also posted a cover of Justin Bieber’s “Let Me Love You” to the YouTube channel for Shots Studios — which reps Mancuso — that has been viewed 4.6 million times.
