Description: If you’re sick of web series about people who live in New York, don’t take City Boyz‘s title too seriously — it’s a misnomer. Chad Burris and Cory Stonebrook‘s show is actually about two brothers from Florida who head to the Big Apple as tourists after winning a free trip from a radio sweepstakes.

Burris and Stonebrook will portray the two titular boyz, a pair of adult man-children who still live with their parents. When they are set loose in the big city, hijinks will naturally ensue. The first comparison that comes to mind for me is Step Brothers, which Burris and Stonebrook invoked in their pitch video; they also mentioned Broad City and Napoleon Dynamite as influences.

Should they raise the money they seek, Burris and Stonebrook will put together a five-episode first season of City Boyz.

Creator Bio: We featured Stonebrook’s turn in the winning web series Sensitive. Burris, meanwhile, has toured as a cast member of The Book Of Mormon.

Best Perk: A contribution of at least $100 comes with a personalized message from the two City Boyz themselves. They have not ruled out lip syncs, poems, and haikus as formats they may attempt in their overtures to donors.

Why You Should Fund It: Burris and Stonebrook have some impressive past credits to their names, but even if they were complete newcomers, City Boys would still be worth a look. The show’s pitch video reveals a bright, positive project that should break down into easily-snackable episodes. It looks like lighter fare, but I’m willing to bet it will still be pretty damn funny, and I look forward to seeing what Burris and Stonebrook put together with their hard-crowdfunded cash.
