YouTube Star Ingrid Nilsen Teams Up With Bill Gates To Quiz Viewers On Global Health Trends

The world’s second-richest man has teamed up with one of YouTube’s top stars to share a global health progress report. Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates appeared in a video about poverty and women’s rights alongside vlogger Ingrid Nilsen.

Before posting the video Nilsen shared four multiple-choice questions related to global health issues with her followers and cataloged their results. With Gates sitting across from her, she shared the most popular choices for each question and asked the philanthropic billionaire to reveal the actual answers. The overall trend was clear: For all the questions, Nilsen’s fans estimated the world to be in a worse place than it actually is. By setting the record straight, Gates (who runs the Gates Foundation alongside his wife Melinda) revealed the progress our species has made over the past few years.

As he continues to invest billions into global health and development initiatives, Gates has used the power of the internet to spread his charitable gospel. Last year, he teamed up with another YouTube star, Lilly Singh, in a video that has received more than three million views to date.

Nilsen, for her part, has now interviewed several of the most powerful people in the world. In 2016, she was one of three creators who had the opportunity to talk to President Barack Obama, whom she questioned about women’s health and an assortment of other issues.

On her channel, which typically features beauty and lifestyle videos, Nilsen has more than 3.6 million subscribers. Her content won her a Streamy Award in 2015.
