YouTube Star Olan Rogers’ Series ‘Final Space’ To Premiere On Reddit 11 Days Before It Arrives On TV

When it was still just a wee pilot, Olan Rogers‘ Final Space received a lot of free promotion thanks to Reddit. Nearly two years later, Final Space is set to premiere as a full-fledged animated TV series, but before it does, it’s making another trip to the so-called “front page of the internet.” The first episode of Final Space is coming to Reddit on February 15, eleven days before it makes its TV premiere on TBS

Final Space follows the adventures of a spaceman named Gary, who joins forces with an adorable, omnipotent green creature named Mooncake. The show’s pilot, shared in April 2016 by Rogers and New Form, was a hit on the /r/videos subreddit, where it received more than 3,300 upvotes. The top comment on the corresponding post was simple: “I’d watch that,” said Reddit user TornMeAsunder.

Good news, TornMeAsunder. Now you can watch it, and you don’t even have to leave Reddit. The Final Space premiere will stream live on Reddit’s front page at 8 PM ET on February 15. Upon its conclusion, viewers will be able to query Rogers directly via an “Ask Me Anything” thread that will go live on the television subreddit.

For TBS, an innovative deal with Reddit — this is the first time a TV show has premiered there — is part of a broader plan to engage fans across social media platforms. “A part of our digital strategy for the show is to sample and distribute content on a platform like Reddit where our target audience is already viewing animated series,” said Turner SVP of brand marketing for TBS & TNT Missy Chambless. “We’re always looking for more access points and creative ways beyond the linear experience for audiences to discover our shows and brand.”
