In Kevin Hart’s New Interview Web Series, The Conversation Gets ‘Cold As Balls’

In his new web series, Kevin Hart is “chilling” with top athletes, in more ways than one. Hart is the star of Cold As Balls, an interview series that sees him chat with famous sportspeople while he and his guests sit in ice baths.

Cold As Balls comes with a special premise: In the mythology of the show, the featured athletes can only find time to chat with Hart while they are cooling off in an ice bath. Judging from a trailer, the comedian will provide sharp, agitated reactions as he steps into cold water, and those takes will provide additional entertainment beyond the interviews themselves.

Hart is sharing his new show through his Laugh Out Loud network, which he launched last year as a digital hub for comedy fans. Laugh Out Loud co-produced the show alongside OBB Pictures. “Cold As Balls captures everything Laugh Out Loud is about – comedy, edginess, and a unique inclusiveness,” said Hart in a press release. “There’s something about the ice-cold water that brings out the funniest and most absurd side of these comedians and athletes.”

Seasoned online video viewers will no doubt compare Cold As Balls to Hot Ones, which is also based around celebrity interviews set in extreme conditions. That show’s format, in which extra-spicy buffalo wings lead to burning questions, has been a big hit for producer Complex Networks. Perhaps Hart took some cues from it when he guest-starred on it in 2016. At any rate, he has now provided the ice to Hot Ones‘ fire.

New episodes of Cold As Balls will arrive each Wednesday and Friday on the Laugh Out Loud YouTube channel. The first installment, which sees Hart get into a verbal sparring match with boisterous basketball dad LaVar Ball, is now available.
