Description: Everyone deserves a day off — even angels. In order to give heavenly protectors the rest they deserve, it is sometimes necessary to call in the Temporary Guardian, who serves as the protagonist in a new series from Andrew May, Chris Baker, and Kate Torgovnick May.
The Temporary Guardian of the show’s title must adapt to whatever situation he finds himself in. If he’s protecting a basketball player, for example, he may need to provide a little boost to their jumps. If he’s alongside a criminal, he may be asked to abet misdeeds. As you can imagine, with a little creativity, the Temporary Guardian team — who work together at a studio called Compass Rose can cook up all sorts of odd guardian angel scenarios that are ripe for comedy.
After initially aiming to bring their show TV, the Compass Rose triumvirate are now seeking funding in order to put together an episode that can serve as a proof of concept. They share their backstory in their pitch video:
Creator Bio: The three creative people who together make up Compass Rose have worked together on both branded and unsponsored projects. Their results include a DirecTV Now campaign and an award-winning short film.
Best Perk: $30 will get you a wing-shaped Temporary Guardian pin. It’s a way to get your wings that doesn’t involve helping out George Bailey.
Why You Should Fund It: May, Baker, and Torgovnick have managed to find a novel concept from they can generate many different ideas. There’s plenty of comedy that can be mined out of their setup, and based on the work they’ve previously put forth, they can be trusted to generate laughs of most heavenly quality. We’ve already seen one guardian angel-themed comedy recently, but if the Compass Rose team can hit its mark, there is certainly room for one more.
