Kelly Clarkson’s New Web Series Shows Her Love For Meryl Streep

“Can I meet you!?” Kelly Clarkson screamed after almost tripping during her red carpet interview with Ryan Seacrest at the Golden Globes. She was talking to Meryl Streep, who indeed granted her a meeting moments after.

The meeting wasn’t entirely unexpected. In fact, Clarkson said she hoped to meet the star in episode one of her web series, Minute + A Glass of Wine, which published Monday, January 8 on YouTube (after Clarkson had already met Streep, though it was clearly filmed beforehand—and Clarkson did mention that episodes would debut live first). The episode was called “Meeting Meryl.”

The name for Clarkson’s web series comes from her new album, Meaning of Life. “Minute and a Glass of Wine” is the intro the album, which, when applied to the web series, refers to taking a moment to relax and reflect. Clarkson chose mostly to reflect on the possibility of meeting stars like Streep at the Golden Globes on January 7 in the show’s first episode, but she said in the future viewers could expect her to discuss her favorite things and sing.

Clarkson turned to the YouTube web series format because, she described, she gets a lot of requests for more content from her fans but has four children, and thus not much extra time for entertaining. A YouTube series gives Clarkson an easy, quick way to make regular appearances for her fans.

Though each episode will initially air on YouTube, Clarkson will also post them to her website, kellyclarkson.com. The first episode ran for over 13 minutes, while episode number two is just under five, so it seems like the show won’t adhere to a rigid format. In episode two, Clarkson happily explains to fans that she did meet Meryl.
