Kalen Allen‘s hilariously candid food reviews have won over one of TV’s most influential individuals.
Allen, who went viral on YouTube after launching his series Kalen Reacts in December, made an appearance alongside Ellen Degeneres on The Ellen Show. At the end of the interview, Degeneres and Allen shook hands on a deal that will offer the aspiring creator assistance as he continues to make videos.
In each of Allen’s uploads, he watches short recipe videos, such as the ones offered by BuzzFeed’s Tasty. As the culinary inventions venture into unusual territory, Allen offers over-the-top reactions. In one of his most popular clips, he watches in horror as vegetables find their way into a macaroni-and-cheese dish.

Degeneres spotlighted Allen’s videos on her show shortly after the amateur critic began posting his reviews, and he has now received more than 3.7 million views in less than a month.
On the second day of 2018, he appeared on The Ellen Show, where he discussed his life, his videos, his studies, and his five jobs alongside Degeneres. Impressed by his work ethic, the talk show queen offered to help Allen produce more critiques. “we want to make a deal with you so you have a platform,” she said, “and help you make these videos. We want to help you put these things out.”
Thanks to his partnership with Degeneres, Allen will be able to take his quippy brand of comedy to another level. The official Ellen Show YouTube channel is one of the most popular destinations on the web, boasting more than 22 million subscribers.
