Google’s 2017 ‘Year In Search’ Video Catalogs 12 Months Of Global Strife

Each year, Google looks back at some of the most notable discussion topics of the past 12 months with a video called Year In Search, which lives on the tech giant’s YouTube channel. The latest edition of the Year In Search has arrived, and it remembers 2017 as a year filled with pain while also looking forward to a brighter future.

Google’s video examines the tragedies that have affected millions of live in 2017, including the Mexico earthquake,the Las Vegas shooting, and the spate of storms that rolled across the Atlantic during this year’s hurricane season. Each event is linked to an associated Google search, with the search engine highlighting the questions bystanders asked in response to the chaos around them.

The Year In Search video also highlights activist movements like the Women’s March, #MeToo, and the NFL’s national anthem protests. Ultimately, it ends on an uplifting note, telling us that search results can help us decide “how to move forward.”
