Description: Project For Awesome is back. For the 11th year in a row, Vlogbrothers hosts Hank and John Green have brought together their friends in the YouTube community for an initiative whose goal is to defeat the negative force of “worldsuck” around the globe.

As in previous years, Project For Awesome will be split across two phases. The money raised during the first half of the campaign will go to Save The Children and Last Mile Health, while second-half proceeds will split among causes championed by online video stars and selected viewer votes, which will be cataloged through the Project For Awesome website. The centerpiece of the drive will be a 48-hour live stream that will begin at noon ET on December 15.

If you’re still confused about how Project For Awesome works, Hank Green’s pitch video should clear up your questions:

Creator Bio: Hank and John Green, in addition to their work on Vlogbrothers, are also the co-founders of VidCon. John has also managed to find just a little success in his writing career, too.

Best Perk: Project For Awesome is known for offering dozens of perks. If all its choices overwhelm you, you can always go for the $20 mystery perk, which includes a random item from a previous P4A. Perhaps there are still some 2013 Men of YouTube calendars left over for you to gawk at.

Why You Should Fund It: Since its launch, Project For Awesome has evolved into one of the most stunning displays of charity the YouTube community has to offer. Its past five iterations have raised more than $5.8 million altogether, thus allowing Hank and John to put a significant dent into worldsuck. If you’d like to be a part of the YouTube community’s annual big-hearted holiday show, now’s your chance.
