Former AwesomenessTV, Blip Exec Kelly Day Joins Viacom’s Digital Studio

As Viacom looks to expand its online video presence, it has turned to an experienced executive. The media company has hired Kelly Day, whose resume includes stints at AwesomenessTV and Blip, as the head of its new digital studio.

In her new position, Day will oversee the production of digital-native content tied to Viacom’s brands. Some of the media company’s channel have already established significant operations in the online video world. MTV, for example, has launched projects on YouTube, Facebook, Snapchat, and Musical.ly, while Comedy Central recently hired Above Average’s Jen Danielson to head up its own digital efforts.

Most recently, Day served as the Chief Business Officer at AwesomenessTV. She arrived at the youth-focused network in 2014 after previously spearheading an original programming effort at Blip, which was acquired by Maker Studios in 2013

and shut down two years later. Prior to that, Day spent seven years at Discovery.
