Veteran Film Journalist To Lead Entertainment Beat At Rooster Teeth’s ‘The Know’

The Know, a Rooster Teeth YouTube property that covers geek and gaming news with a lighthearted spin, has hired noted journalist Eric Vespe as its senior entertainment news writer.

Vespe, who previously served as a reporter for Ain’t It Cool News — where he was known as ‘Quint‘ — will be responsible for leading entertainment reporting and developing new programming for The Know, which is also distributed across Rooster’s SVOD platform First. The Know counts upwards of 1.2 million subscribers on YouTube, and clocks roughly 500,000 viewers every day. While much of its content is currently focused on gaming, Vespe’s hire will significant bolster the brand’s film and TV coverage.

Vespe, a lifelong movie lover, previously served as a cornerstone personality at Ain’t It Cool News

, which was one of the internet’s first movie news websites. Vespe departed Ain’t It Cool after more than 20 years at the company last month after several sexual assault allegations came to light against the site’s founder, Harry Knowles. Knowles has since taken a leave of absence, and his sister, Dannie, is running the site.

“I’ve been a fan of Eric’s work for years and I’m beyond excited to have the opportunity to work with him to revolutionize the way we report on movies and entertainment,” said Ashley Jenkins, executive producer and creator of The Know. In addition to Ain’t It Cool, Vespe’s work has also appeared at Slashfilm, Collider, and Popular Mechanics.
