Gigi Gorgeous To Host Charity Bash, Fundraising Campaign For L.A. Transyouth Center

One of the most visible transgender creators on all of YouTube, lifestyle vlogger Gigi Gorgeous, is seeking to raise funds for the Children’s Hospital Center For Transyouth Health And Development — a Los Angeles-based organization that provides hormonal intervention, mental health and HIV prevention services, family and peer support, and other advocacy resources for gender non-conforming kids.

In order to bolster the work of the facility, which is currently caring for 1,000 patients — and which has a waiting list of roughly 150 patients — Gigi, whose last name is Lazzarato, is set to host a Halloween bash called ‘CarnEvil For Good‘ on Oct. 29 at Hollywood hotspot Bootsy Bellows. All proceeds will benefi the center. Tickets for the event, which will feature celebrity guests and a live musical performance, are available here.

Additionally, Lazzarato has launched a GoFundMe campaign for those who can’t attend but still wish to

contribute to the cause. “Now is the time to invest in lifesaving care and clinical research so that every child has the opportunity to embrace and express his or her authentic self,” she wrote on the campaign page. In just two days, Lazzarato has raised roughly $19,400 of her $30,000 goal from a total of nine donors.

Funds will also be allocated to educating school administrators and teachers about transgender issues, helping patients who want to change their names or genders on their driver’s licenses, and to field denials from insurance companies who refuse to cover hormone-blockers or other treatments.

Lazzarato, who is 25 and counts 2.7 million YouTube subscribers, previously starred in a YouTube Red documentary called This Is Everything that chronicled her transition, and was most recently named a social media correspondent for MTV’s TRL reboot.
