Jake Paul Recruits Rapper Gucci Mane For Upcoming “Banger”

The wildly successful and controversial YouTube star Jake Paul is, by many accounts, a terrible rapper. That said, the 20-year-old’s music videos are by far the top-viewed releases on his buzzy channel, including the oft-derided It’s Everyday Bro — which counts a whopping 123 million views and peaked at 94 on the Billboard Hot 100 despite being the fifth most-disliked video on all of YouTube — as well as last month’s YouTube Stars Diss Track (31 million views).

And with his latest collaboration, Paul is looking for some added credibility on his continued musical crusade. According to XXL, Paul has been in the studio with rapper Gucci Mane readying a new track. “This song right here is a hit,” Gucci said in a clip from one of Paul’s recent vlogs. “Listen, if y’all sleepin’ on Jake Paul, y’all finna know. I’m talking about we got a banger.”

This isn’t the first time that an aspiring YouTube musician has tapped a rap world luminary for a musical collaboration. Last year, vlogger Ricky Dillon partnered with Snoop Dogg for the single Problematic off his debut album GOLD. And Paul’s brother, Logan, collaborated with the rapper Desiigner on a track called The Song Of The Summer to promote the Baywatch movie in June.

Paul’s latest music video, a love letter to his fans called The Jake Paulers Song, was posted last week and already counts 8.1 million views.
