Amazon Drops Trailer, Plans Haunted House To Promote Its First Horror Series

Lore, Amazon Video‘s first horror series, has been given an appropriate release date of Friday, October 13, and scream aficionados might want to circle their calendars. Amazon has released a trailer for the upcoming show and has also revealed its plan to work with Just Fix It Productions to create a real-life haunted house that will tie into Lore‘s release.

Lore, based on a popular podcast hosted by Aaron Mahnke, is separated into six episodes that each tell their own self-contained stories. The show purports to be based on real-life events, though your mileage may vary. Whether or not you believe Lore‘s tales to be truthful, there’s no denying they look sufficiently spooky, if the trailer introducing them is any indication:

Amazon’s promotional tie-in for the series will be titled “Lore: A Haunting Experience,” and according to The Verge, it will run during October and November in Los Angeles. A trip through the haunted house installation will last an hour and will require ticketed entry; passes can be picked up online.

Looking to capitalize on the popularity of the Lore podcast, Amazon picked up its series adaptation last yearLore is Amazon’s second anthology, following The New York Presents.

Though films like Get Out and It have helped the horror genre shine in cinemas in 2017, SVOD platforms — with the exception of Shudder — have not offered up many frightening tales of their own. Lore has the potential to be a pulse-pounding atmospheric option for Amazon Prime subscribers once it arrives on Friday the 13th.
