Description: A production team from Maryland are looking to tell the story of a man with a long history in entertainment but many goals still left to fulfill. Husband-and-wife tandem Marc Unger and Maria Unger are the creators and stars of Thespian, which is currently raising the funds it needs to put together a full season.

In Thespian, Marc Unger portrays Adam, whose career in comedy has left him with a bitter edge and a desire to return to the sort of serious acting work he did as a young man. In the series, we will meet Adam’s friends and family and follow his journey as he looks to reinvent himself.

A trailer for Thespian shows off the blend of humor and melancholy viewers can expect, with a few surreal touches thrown in for good measure. The Ungers also revealed more details about their project in the pitch video they posted to Indiegogo:

Creator Bio: The Ungers, who are based in Baltimore, both have several TV credits on their respective resumes. Marc has been in Veep and Friends, while Maria has showed up in House of Cards and Law and Order: SVU.

Best Perk: The $75 perk package includes a dreamcatcher crafted by the co-creator’s mom. The production and financing of Thespian is truly a family business.

Why You Should Fund It: The story of a creator who is looking to make it in the thorny world of entertainment has been told many times on the internet, but Thespian takes an intriguing angle by adding a few city miles onto its characters. Adam’s jaded take on his life and career makes him stand out as a protagonist, and the Thespian trailer displays a high-quality production bolstered by subtle contributions from its actors. As an added bonus, viewers will get to meet performers from the Baltimore and DC areas; for anyone who is tired of stories set in New York and Los Angeles, Thespian‘s Mid-Atlantic setting is refreshing.
