Description: The “crazy roommates” trope is a common one in the online video world, but only one web series that we know of melds that setup with a satire of famed pop culture villains. Kyloki, which is set in an apartment shared by Marvel baddie Loki, Star Wars antagonist Kylo Ren, and an ordinary guy named Matt, is seeking funding for its second season.

Kyloki comes from Leisure Elk Productions, which shared the first season of Kyloki last year as the first ever release on its YouTube channel. In the series, protagonist Matt must sort out a series of apartment snafu, but he gets no help from his co-habitants. Instead, Loki and Kylo Ren are quarrelsome renters whose personalities clash with Matt’s. Loki is flamboyant, mischievous, and evil; Kylo Ren is dark, brooding, and also evil. The bottom line is that neither of them are interested in doing their chores.

With its second season, Kyloki hopes to get bigger and badder. Leisure Elk wants to raise enough money to leave the apartment in which all of season one’s episodes are set, thus building the universe of their show. They explain more in their pitch video:

Creator Bio: Leisure Elk is based in Los Angeles. Its productions purportedly come from the “crazed fangirl minds” of Arielle Waldman and Jordan Henry.

Best Perk: At the $75 level, the perk package includes a voice message from one of Kyloki‘s cast members. If it were up to me, I’d get Loki to record one of those prank voicemail recordings.

Why You Should Fund It: For a show with such a simple premise, Kyloki turned in a strong first season. The dynamic between the two titular villains turned out to be a perfect combination, with Loki’s manic energy playing well alongside Kylo Ren’s angry attitude. The addition of a third player to the mix allowed the show’s dialogue to shine, and some sneaky good special effects added to the appear. I’m certainly curious to see more odd couple comedy starring these two titans of pop culture and their beleaguered third wheel. If you too feel that way, feel free to show Kyloki some love.
