‘Welcome To The Wayne,’ A Nickelodeon Show Adapted From A Web Series, Arrives On TV

Nickelodeon has given one of its original web series a chance to shine on TV. Welcome to the Wayne, which began as a digital program in 2014, had its TV premiere at 5:30 PM ET on Monday, July 24.

Welcome to the Wayne follows the adventures of three friends who explore their New York City apartment building, which is filled with all sorts of supernatural phenomena. Billy Lopez, who created the show and provides one of its primary voices, previously gained experience working on another Nickelodeon animated series, Phineas and Ferb.

The TV version of Welcome to the Wayne

was announced back in 2015. That order covered 20 episodes, which will leverage the show’s existing fanbase while creating fresh stories that will appeal to new viewers as well. “We decided that we’re going to keep [the digital series episodes] as a sort of official origin story of these characters and start the pilot episode [of the full-length series] some vague time after that,” Lopez told Variety. “So we ended up with a soft reintroduction of the premise and the themes.”

New episodes of Welcome to the Wayne will air each Friday.
