Streamlabs, A Popular Monetization Tool For Live Broadcasters, Adds Facebook Integration

Streamlabs, a massively popular revenue-collecting platform for live creators, announced today compatibility with Facebook Live. Now, Streamlabs — which was co-founded by former esports entrepreneur Ali Moiz in 2014 — boasts integration with four total platforms, including Twitch, Youtube, and Microsoft‘s Mixer.

Streamlabs, which has more than 60 million monthly active users — including bold-faced creators like PewDiePie — offers more than two dozen features designed to help streamers better engage with their fans, grow audiences, and improve monetization. For instance, one popular tool enables tipping notifications to show up within the actual video stream — where the majority of viewer attention lies — as opposed to within the chat box. Another feature is a widget appearing as an animated tip jar, whereby gold coins (or other customizable icons) can enter the jar as a visual incentive for fans to donate.

Streamlabs, a third-party add-on program that’s free to use, also processes tips and donations for broadcasters at no additional charge. The company makes money by offering ‘PRO’ membership subscriptions — priced at $2.00 per month — that bestows extra bells and whistles for broadcasters to animate their streams, including confetti, stars, hearts, and other emojis.

In the first quarter of 2017, Streamlabs says it processed $23.5 million in tips — a 13% increase over the $20.8 million it processed in the final quarter of 2016.

Moiz tells Tubefilter that, in the future, other platforms that could be of interest to Streamlabs are Instagram — which is not unlike YouTube in that it is a largely an influencer-centric community — and Twitter, which serves as a de facto moment-by-moment engagement mechanism between streamers and their fans. However, there’s no set timeframe for expansion onto either of these platforms as of yet.
