Nostalgia Critic Celebrates Ten Years Of Videos With A Much-Requested Review

Back in 2007, Doug Walker posted a rant under the name Nostalgia Critic for the first time. Now, a decade later, Walker’s work has endured, and he has taken some time to celebrate his long career on the internet. The Nostalgia Critic is ten years old, and Channel Awesome, which serves as the home for those videos, has celebrated with numerous festivities.

To kick off the Critic’s ten-year bash, Channel Awesome employee Walter Banasiak put together a list of some of Walker’s best work. If you’ve never experienced the Critic’s exasperated rants, witty sketches, and tough-but-fair criticisms of classic TV shows and movies, that rundown is a good place to start.

Once you’re up to speed on Walker’s signature character, it’s time to dive into his latest review: A 28-minute evisceration of the 2016 film Norm of the North. Walker describes the animated flick, which sits at 9% on Rotten Tomatoes

, as one of his most-requested reviews, and while there’s nothing particularly nostalgic about it, the Critic’s takedown of it still serves as a wonderful anniversary treat.

Finally, Walker took some time to thank all of the fans who have helped his videos carry on for ten years. “I just love the fact that any of this is possible,” he said. “You don’t have to go and do the Hollywood route. You can actually kinda bring this stuff to you, and you can bring this community to you, and you can grow this community.”

Walker’s work paved the way for a whole community of sassy pop culture commentators on YouTube and beyond, and for that, he should be celebrated. Fortunately, the Critic is still sharp today, and anyone who releases low-quality film or TV content should watch out.
