Former NFL, Xbox, WB Content Exec Jordan Levin Is AwesomenessTV’s New CEO

Two-and-a-half months after Brian Robbins announced his decision to step down from his role as CEO of AwesomenessTV, his replacement has been selected. Jordan Levin, who most recently worked as the NFL’s first ever Chief Content Officer, will take on Robbins’ former position at the top of the tween- and teen-focused digital media company.

Levin will work with AwesomenessTV President Brian Bouttier to guide the company as it continues to produce a busy slate of content across multiple platforms. AwesomenessTV is a force on YouTube, where many of its partners claim millions of subscribers. It has also produced a number of films, and it has formed a particularly close relationship with Go90 (which is owned by Verizon, an AwesomenessTV investor), releasing several series there.

“I believe Awesomeness has become one of the most relevant brands for young adults across television, film and digital because it quickly cultivated a passionate community around its singular voice and creative vision,” said Levin in a memo to AwesomenessTV employees

. “No other outlet has empowered a new generation of creators and consumers so authentically, and I can’t wait to be a part of it.”

While Levin worked at the NFL, the league’s digital presence grew considerably. In the period of almost two years since the NFL hired him, its subscriber count on YouTube has jumped from about 218,000 to more than two million. Before that gig, Levin worked at the ill-fated Xbox Studios venture, which collapsed before the majority of its original programming could premiere. He also has experience at Alloy Digital (which has since merged with Break Media to become Defy Media) and spent a decade at The WB, where he worked on shows like Dawson’s Creek.

DreamWorks Animation has held a majority stake in AwesomenessTV since 2013. DreamWorks was itself acquired by Comcast last year.
