Top 50 Most Viewed YouTube Channels Worldwide • Week Of 4/21/2017

It’s another installment of the weekly Tubefilter Chart of the Top 50 Most Viewed YouTube Channels Worldwide and people still really, really like Indian entertainment.

Chart Toppers

T-Series‘ held onto its #1 spot on the top of the charts for the sixth week in a row. The YouTube home of India’s self-proclaimed largest music label and movie studio jumped up 22% in views to close out the week with a very impressive nearly 302.2 million. In a distant second place is Canal KondZilla. Your online video destination for all your favorite Brazilian pop music hits closed out the week relatively constant with just about 176.2 million views.

Next up in third place is Ryan ToysReview. Ryan’s eponymous outpost with videos featuring his toy unboxing prowess hopped up 13% to top out just shy of 174 million views in the week. Very close behind in the #4 spot is Ed Sheeran. The British musical multi-hyphenate’s online music video channel was up 7% on the week and received views to the tune of more than 172.3 million.

And rounding out the Top 5 is SET India. The YouTube channel of Sony Entertainment Television’s Indian iteration was up 21% in is weekly view count to amass nearly 171.4 million views on the week.

Top Gainers

The honor of one of the Top Gainers on the chart this week goes to The Ellen Show.

YouTube’s home for Ellen DeGeneres’ CBS-syndicated daytime talk show always does well on YouTube thanks to the upload of dozens of clips a week from the TV program. This seven-day timeframe was better than the one before because of the usual mix of videos featuring celebrities, feel-good stories, and healthy doses of whimsy, including this upload where DeGeneres sits down with a high school student who’s attempting to take her Twitter record.

DeGeneres currently holds the record for most retweets ever on her famous Oscar selfie, but that accolade is being threatened by Carter Wilkerson, a young man who will get a lifetime supply of chicken Nuggets from Wendy’s if this tweet gets more than 18 million retweets. Wilkerson’s almost in the lead – you an see live updates on this site – and DeGeneres isn’t happy. So, she invited him on her show to threaten, plea, and bribe the guy so he doesn’t take her crown. The video of their conversation easily racked up a seven-figure view count and contributed to Ellen‘s 32% week-over-week increase in views, more than 63.7 million views on the week, and #37 spot on the worldwide chart.

Channel Distribution

The top 50 most viewed YouTube channels worldwide this week amassed a total of 4,717,807,690 views. Here’s the distribution of a few of those channels by multi-channel network:

VEVO: 9 channels in the U.S. Top 50, with Luis Fonsi the highest-ranked channel of the network at #9.
BroadbandTV: 3 channels in the Top 50, with WorldstarHipHop at #36.
XMediaDigital: 2 channels in the Top 50, with mashamedvedtv at #27.

And here’s the distribution of the this week’s Top 50 YouTube channels by country of origin:

United States: 25 channels in the Top 50.
India: 6 channels in the Top 50.
Great Britain: 5 channels in the Top 50.
Brazil: 3 channels in the Top 50.
South Korea, Russia, Thailand: 2 channels each in the Top 50.
Argentina, Canada, Philippines, Puerto Rico, Turkey: 1 channel each in the Top 50.
