YouTube Star Anna Akana Snags Recurring TV Role In Freeform’s ‘Stitchers’

Anna Akana has landed another notable acting gig. The YouTube star, whose vlogs and short films have allowed her to accrue more than 1.7 million subscribers on her primary channel, will have a recurring role in the third season of Stitchers on the ABC-run Freeform channel.

Stitchers follows a group of operatives who enter the memories of recently deceased people in order to solve the mysteries related to those people’s deaths. In her role, Akana will portray a medical examiner who joins the show’s main team and, according to Deadline, “has an instant spark with Camille,” the character portrayed by Allison Scagliotti.

This is the latest role for Akana, who has landed several notable gigs since gaining notability on the Internet. She worked with New Form Digital to bring Miss 2059

, a series she created and starred in, to Verizon’s Go90 app. She also has a role in You Get Me, an upcoming feature film produced by Awesomeness Films that also stars Nash Grier. Additionally, Deadline notes that she will be seen in Hampton DeVille, a forthcoming Comedy Central program.

The third season of Stitchers will premiere on June 5th. Akana will make her first appearance one week later in the show’s June 12th episode.
