Disney XD’s ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ Web Companion Features Beautiful Animation

Guardians of the Galaxy is a big hit on YouTube, and while viewers may be most focused on the upcoming sequel to the franchise’s smash hit 2015 film, Disney XD is mixing in some TV-adjacent content as well. It has released Marvel’s Rocket & Groot, an animated companion to the Guardians of the Galaxy

TV show.

Rocket & Groot focuses on its titular characters, a talking raccoon and a repetitive tree-man, as they go on space adventures together. Fans of the Guardians film may be disappointed in the web series’ tone, because it based off the animated Guardians TV show, which airs on Disney XD and is aimed squarely at kids.

Even though Rocket & Groot lacks edgy wit, it offers plenty of gorgeous, crisp animation. Oscar-winning studio Passion Pictures worked with Disney on this project, and the attention to detail shines throughout the entire first episode.

According to Slashfilm, more episodes of the Rocket & Groot web series will hit the Disney XD YouTube channel on March 27th. The entire series will become available on April 10th.
