New Form Digital is doubling down on two of its original programs. At CES, the production studio whose co-founders include Ron Howard and Discovery Communications announced new seasons of both Miss 2059, which stars YouTube star Anna Akana, and the high school comedy Mr. Student Body President. Both of those seasons will be distributed through Go90.
Both Miss 2059 and Mr. Student Body President got started as pilots within New Form’s first incubator series, through which the studio hoped to shine light on talented filmmakers within the online video community. From there, both projects were sold to Go90 as part of a six-show deal announced in September 2015. The first episode of Miss 2059 arrived on June 21st, 2016, while Mr. Student Body President followed three months behind on September 22nd.
The renewal deals will crank up the episode counts for each of these two shows. Mr. Student Body President
’s second season will feature 30 installments — three times as many as its first go-around. Miss Earth’s deal is good for a 12-episode order.“We want to get behind what’s working on go90 in a big way,” said Go90 Chief Content Officer Ivana Kirkbride in a press release. “Doubling down on a hit like Mr. Student Body President and Streamy award-nominated Miss 2059 is just one way in which we strongly invest in our partners such as New Form and how we provide a unique platform to incredibly talented creators such as Anna Akana to freely create in their own voice.”
While viewers will need to turn to Go90 to watch these shows in the U.S., they are also showing up abroad. They are being shopped worldwide (along with a third New Form series Cold) thanks to an October 2016 agreement with Keshet International.
