Casey Neistat Launches Charity: Water Campaign, Nearly Triples $5,000 Goal In 24 Hours

Casey Neistat wants to end 2016 “on a really positive note.” And in partnership with Charity: Water, a nonprofit that provides clean and safe drinking water to people in developing countries, the veteran vlogger is on track to raise a boatload of money.

Neistat kicked off a Charity: Water campaign yesterday with a $5,000 goal — $1,000 of which he donated out of his own pocket. But in just 24 hours, Neistat has nearly tripled that goal with $14,064 from 932 donors — and 91 days to go. Charity: Water notes that Neistat has raised enough money thus far to provide 468 people with clean water.

Neistat has a lot to be thankful for this holiday season. In November, he announced he would be stepping away from his long-running daily vlog, and subsequently shared that his social video app Beme had been acquired by CNN in a deal reportedly worth $25 million. And in collaboration with Samsung and fellow YouTuber Jesse Wellens, Neistat created and starred in a holiday film that went crazy viral, in which he soars through the air on a snowboard while being toted by a massive drone.
